Tongan Language Week
Koloa Fakatonga
On Uike lea faka-Tonga, We had so many things planned, so we were really busy. But First on Monite Ua Of Sepitema we did something called “Koloa Fakatonga” when we went to Koloa Fakatonga which was in rosser house there was a curtain it looked like it was made out of flax or something. Koloa Fakatonga is something for people that do not know much about Tongan stuff. Koloa Fakatonga is when you look at all the tongan items like one of them was a KieKie and people will explain to you what it is and what it is made out of! The thing I liked was when people were experiencing things from Tonga and just looking at them and asking questions!
Taste Of Tonga
On Pulelulu fa Sepitema, In the morning, I went to the hall to help with the food and give it to people, the thing I liked about it was when people said “This is so yummy”. There was so much food/meals I wanted to try so bad! But after all the classes finished in the morning, Salome let us have a taste of the otai. It tasted so smooth and yum, I've only tasted a differentai! After that it was Last Block (Afternoon) and we could finally go and taste the tongan food, It was literally so Yummy I wish I could eat more!
Assembly
BOOM! Assembly is here! So the tongan group has to come in the morning to practice the whole assembly! And then it was morning tea.. At 11:20 it was assembly the tongan group went to rosser house and Room 1 to change into our Taupuni’s for the Tongan Tau’olunga. It was decorated with mats and tongan things. So the hosts were Moonlight, Ian, Spencer and Marley, and the little kids get to do their Tau’olunga! They did a wonderful job and I was so nervous but heaps of the parents loved it and I could tell that they loved it because they were cheering for them a lot. While the hosts were talking Laura, Our professional teacher that teaches us the tongan Tau’olunga! She was putting on our tekitekis, While we all sing the Tongan National Anthem and After the tongan kids and welcoming prayer from Naomi’s wonderful dad Mr.Pole! It was our turn and I had so many mixed feelings, but I did it and it was so crazy! Because heaps of parents cheering and giving money and shouting, I felt so proud that when we were singing ’Neu Mohe Ou Misi’ I was like crying of how proud I am for being a tongan and being at May Road School!
